Using the Menu Bar

This section is about the bottom menu bar in 3D Views. For information on 3D joint animations and gallery animations and illustrations, please see the Joints & Gallery section of Help.

Once you have launched a 3D View, a menu bar displaying eight icons appears at the bottom of the View screen. These icons allow you to navigate through the app and access additional content and functionality.

Home: Click this icon to return to the Home screen.

Menu: Click this icon to return to the section you just came from. If you launched the 3D View from Region Views, clicking Menu will bring you back to the Region Views thumbnail screen. If you launched it from Bone Views, Menu will bring you back to the Bone Views listing. If you launched the View from Index, Menu will bring you back to the Index.

Definition: Click this icon after selecting a bone in the View to open a window displaying the definition of the selected structure. The window remains open if you select a different structure, and the definition for the most recently selected structure is displayed. To view a definition for a grouping of structures or a system, click on a structure within that grouping. Click on the name of the grouping in the breadcrumb trail at the top of the screen to select it, and then click the Definition icon. To close the Definition window, click the "Done" button in the top right corner of the window, or click the Definition icon again.

Tools: Click this icon to access actions for adjusting and interacting with the 3D model. Information on these specific actions is included in the "3D Views" help section.

Save View: This functionality is currently not available in the site license version of the app.

Draw: Click this icon to access the drawing feature. A window will appear showing drawing tools. Use "Marker" to draw over anatomy in the View. Selecting "Eraser" allows you to erase your markings manually, while "Erase All" clears all markings from the View. The ability to save an annotated view is currently not available in the site license version of the app.

Search: Click this icon to search for bones or ligaments when you are in a View. You can either search by typing in a keyword, or browse by structure name. The browse feature contains an alphabetical listing of all individual structures.

To search by keyword, type three or more letters of the bone or ligament you are searching for, then click the search button. A box appears above the search bar containing the search results, including the names of all relevant structures.

Each search result also displays the words "Add/Go To" or "Select/Go To" at the far right. Click on the word "Add" adds the structure to the View. Clicking on the word "Select" highlights the structure in the current View. You may need to reposition your View to see the selected structure if it is outside your current frame or obscured by other anatomy. Clicking on the name of the structure in the search results is another way to add or select the structure in the View.

To automatically generate a new View featuring a bone you found via the search tool, click on the words "Go To" in the search results. The app selects (or adds and selects) the structure and repositions the image so that the desired structure is centered in the View.
