Selecting Anatomical Structures

Selecting Anatomical Structures

This section is about the Anatomy section.

Once you have launched a View from the Anatomy or Index sections, you can select anatomical structures within that View using the following actions:

Selecting a single anatomical structure: Click once on an anatomical structure to select it. The structure is highlighted and a breadcrumb trail appears at the top of the screen, displaying hierarchical information about the structure, including its name (highlighted as the last term to the right).

Clicking the audio icon to the right of the name allows you to hear the pronunciation of the structure. A second selection overrides the first selection (unless in Multiple Select mode; see below), so that only one structure at a time is highlighted. To deselect a selected structure, click it.

Selecting multiple anatomical structures: To select multiple anatomical structures, first select a structure and then click "Multiple Select". Multiple Select mode allows you to select as many structures as you wish by clicking each structure once. All remain highlighted, but only the most recently selected structure name is displayed in the breadcrumb trail at the top of the screen. To deselect any selected structure, click it once. To return to Single Select mode, click "Single Select".

Selecting an anatomical grouping: When any anatomical structure is selected, a breadcrumb trail appears at the top of the screen displaying hierarchical information about the structure, including that structure's system (e.g., Skeletal System). To select any of the larger groupings, click on the desired name in the breadcrumb trail. The associated anatomical structures are added to the model if necessary, selected, and highlighted onscreen.

Deselecting structures: If Multiple Select mode is on, deselect a single structure by clicking it again, or deselect all structures by clicking "Single Select" and clicking anywhere on the background.
