Here are some common issues and solutions for Site License users who are having problems with Visible Body apps.
Web app issues
Visible Body's aren't working in my web browser! What can I do?
These issues can include launch or performance issues, out of memory errors, and problems with your browser not supporting WebGL. For any of these issues, see our Web App Troubleshooting Guide.
How can I use Internet Explorer to launch Visible Body apps?
Internet Explorer legacy support: The 2018 versions of Human Anatomy Atlas, Muscle Premium, and Anatomy & Physiology do not run on Internet Explorer. This information on Internet Explorer is provided for legacy apps (web apps released before 2018).
First, confirm your computer meets the minimum system requirements.
You can find the system requirements for the web versions of our apps here:
- Human Anatomy Atlas
- Physiology & Pathology
- Muscle Premium
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Courseware
- Physiology Animations
- Visible Biology
Second, confirm you have a reliable high-speed internet connection.
Broadband Cable, DSL, or other wired connections: There are many websites from internet providers and third parties available to test internet speeds. A few popular ones are listed below.
Wi-Fi: Network and signal strengths can be extremely variable depending on hardware configuration, interference, number of devices connected to the network, and activity. Reboot your modem and router and turn off other devices to ensure optimal performance.
A wired connection is best.
Lastly, check the size of your browser cache.
- Click Tool icon (Gear icon upper right of the browser).
- Click Internet options.
- In General tab, under Browsing History, click Settings.
- In Temporary Internet Files tab, select automatically, and enter the size of memory you want to allocate. We recommend at least 350MB.
- Click OK, and save your changes, then click OK
For additional information on launch and other web app issues, see our Web App Troubleshooting Guide.

How do I update my EZProxy configuration?
Proxy customers using EZProxy must update their configuration file to allow the Visible Body applications to load properly. Here are the steps:
- Add the following line to the EZProxy configuration file: NeverProxy cdn.visiblebody.com Note: This is a global setting (not part of a stanza). It is generally set above the stanzas in the configuration file.
- After changing the configuration file, restart EZProxy.
What stanza should I use for EZProxy?
Here is an example stanza for EZProxy that you can copy and paste:

Internet Explorer and Unity Web Plug-In support
Why do you no longer support Internet Explorer or the Unity WebPlayer plug-in? How do I provide support to customers who accessed the previous versions of the web apps using IE and/ or the Unity Plug-In?
Unity has ended support for its WebPlayer plug-in and now relies on WebGL, which is supported by the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. Over 85% of users at institutions that currently subscribe to our web apps are already on web browsers that support WebGL.
32-bit computers do not support WebGL. The 2018 versions of our apps do not support Internet Explorer. Any customer with users on IE or 32-bit computers can direct these users to the last bullet on the launch page for the 2018 apps. That link reads “My computer cannot run this update of the app. Where can I access the previous version?” and gives access to a previous version of the app.
Mobile access
How do I activate my app?
In addition to web versions of apps, Visible Body offers Android and iOS versions of apps. They can be accessed from the Google Play and Apple iTunes stores. Direct links are provided to customers on the app launch pages. Follow these instructions to download and activate mobile apps.
- Go to the launch page for the web app.
- Find and click/tap on the link for the mobile apps.
- If the institution has included mobile apps in their purchase, download links to mobile apps appear on this page.
- Use those links to download the apps to a mobile device.
- Follow the instructions for on campus or off campus activation provided on the page.
Mobile performance
Using the apps on a mobile device is not as fast as expected. What can I do?
First, confirm your computer meets the minimum system requirements.

Second, try hiding structures you don’t need.
You can try hiding body systems and objects that you don’t need to view. Performance
improves with fewer visible objects in the viewing area.
Finally, maximize your system’s resources for best Visible Body performance on a mobile device: Quit other apps, power-cycle your device, or reset it.
If you're still having trouble with using Visible Body's web applications or downloading the mobile apps as part of your Site License, please submit a ticket here.
