If you have students telling you that they have completed their assignment, but their grades aren't appearing in the Gradebook, there are a few things that could be happening.
1. The assignment was actually a practice quiz
Occasionally, students who have mistaken practice quizzes for graded quizzes. These assignments do not send grades to the Gradebook. In practice quizzes, the “Type” category will say “Practice Quiz” when clicking into the assignment, like in the image below.
2. They didn't finish before the due date
Currently, untimed quizzes cannot be turned in after the due date. This means that even if a student started the quiz before the due date, they will not receive a grade if they submit the quiz after the due date. They will also see this error.
The development team is currently working on a solution to this issue.
If this is a problem for you, you can put time limits on your quizzes. As long as the student starts a timed quiz before the due date, their grade will be the sent to the Gradebook.
3. They didn’t start the quiz
If your student didn't start their quiz, there will be no grade in the Gradebook.
4. They lost internet connectivity during the quiz
An internet connection is needed to send grades from the Quiz App to the Gradebook. If your student loses their internet connection during a quiz, they will be shown the following error.
Since they have access to their results before exiting the Quiz App, they should take a screenshot of their results as the error instructs. You can then manually enter their grade into the Gradebook.
Generally, the Gradebook is the most reliable source of information on what quizzes the student has completed, as it pulls directly from our database. If you still have concerns about your students' grades, please submit a ticket.
